摘要
In this work, the objective is to analyze the presence and distribution of legalized community radio stations in the semi-arid region of the state of Piaui, Brazil. For this, data from the National Telecommunications Agency (NTA) were used, and a map was prepared, with their locations. Reflections about the relevance of these radios to the communities in which they operate are also presented, relating them to data from the local reality, such as population and Municipal Human Development Index (MHDI). It was found that less than half of the municipalities in that region have community radios, that is, most of them do not have means of communication that effectively represent the wishes of local communities.
