The present research was aimed to evaluate the drinking quality of ground water from bore well & hand pump based on its physico-chemical analysis. During this investigation total 30 water samples from each tahsil via: Anjangao & Daryapur, District Amravati, Maharashtra, India, were collected and analysed for 10 important physico-chemical parameters universally used for judging the water quality. The purity of the water samples was evaluated according to the Indian standards for drinking water & based on it they were declared fit (potable) & unfit (non potable) for drinking purpose. In this study, data revealed that out of 30 water samples collected from Anjangao tahsil 14 water samples failed to meet the requirements of Indian standards & thus found to be unfit for drinking purpose. On the other hand, out of 30 water samples collected from Daryapur tahsil, 21 samples were found to be unfit for drinking purpose. Thus 28% of the water samples from Anjangao tahsil & 42 % of the water samples from Daryapur tahsil were found to be polluted and non potable.
