摘要
Experiments were conducted by using PCD drills to drill Al2O3 particulate reinforced aluminum-based metal matrix composite. Cutting parameters which were considered included cutting speed, feed rate, and volume fraction of reinforcement. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Response Surface Methodology (RSM) were used to analyze experimental data and develop regression models. Drilling forces were significantly influenced by feed rate while drilling speed had no effect on degree of thrust force and torque. Drilling feed rate is the major factor to average surface roughness values. The drilled hole surface is negatively skewed due to particle reinforcements and built up edge.
