摘要
Bifunctional organic compounds have significant applications particularly in polymer science. Herein, new dipropargyl sugar derivative has been synthesized staring from D-mannose. in the first step, mannose diacetonide was prepared from commercially available D-mannose and acetone in the presence of H2SO4. Then, the isopropylidene was extended at C-2 via aldol condensation using formaldehyde in the presence of base. Next, Williamson etherification was followed to synthesize the required dilkynyl compound through the treatment of the 2-C branched sugar with propargyl bromide in the presence of NaOH as a catalyst. All synthesized derivatives were identified utilizing NMR and HRMS.
