Combustion tests of energy crops in Denmark

摘要
Wheat, rye and triticale have been grown on a total of 500 ha and burned on eight widely different boiler plants during the winter 1995/6 and 1996/97 in order to evaluate the suitability of energy crops as fuel. In 1997 a 4-year research programme For energy crops started. Part of the programme will focus on selection of high yield sorts of grain, fuel- and ash analysis and combustion tests in laboratory. 34 combustion tests will be carried out with triticale, rye, miscanthus, willow, phalaris, rape and hemp. The research programme is in accordance with the Danish energy action plan "Energy 21" in which renewable energy plays an important role. The major goals in "Energy 21" and EU's White Paper on renewable energy are in accordance with each other.
