Cystic endometrial hyperplasia-pyometra complex and supraventricular tachyarrhythmia in a cat

A twelve-year-old uncastrated domestic cat with inappetence and vomiting was diagnosed with cystic endometrial hyperplasia-pyometra complex following ultrasonography and a blood analysis. Because of an arrhythmia on auscultation, an electrocardiogram was recorded, in which a supraventricular tachycardia with ventricular extrasystoles was detected. It was not possible to diagnose the tachyarrhythmia, which persisted after castration, any further because of poor owner compliance. Subsequently, the cat developed pleural effusion and had to be euthanised 109 days after the first presentation.
