Action of Bismuth Ions on Electronic Structure of Zinc-Manganese Ferrites

X-ray spectrum analysis and electromagnetic investigations of Mn-Zn ferrite with composition of Mn(0.65)Zn(0.26)Fe(2.09)O(4), which was sintered in the presence of bismuth oxide addition in amount of 0-0.6 wt.%, are carried out. The x-ray spectra of L-emission and absorption K-edge of iron revealed that the bismuth ions changed the electronic structure of ferrite. Thermodynamical calculations confirmed a possibility of appearance of bismuth orthoferrite phase (BiFeO(3)). In the samples of ferrite doped with bismuth, disaccomodation of magnetic permeability changes under the action of electrostatic field. It may be because of the presence of seignetomagnetic phase-bismuth orthoferrite.
