摘要
The paper addresses the framework of physical metallurgy of direct-quenching based on the existing information. Structure-property relationship of quenched and tempered steels is briefly reviewed. The effects of hot rolling on microstructures and properties are discussed. Intrinsic hardenability of steel significantly influences the response of steel to rolling conditions, where distinction is made for low and high hardenability. The effects of microalloying elements and boron in direct-quenching are also discussed.
