摘要
Use or disposal of the rice husk has frequently proved difficult because of their tough, woody, abrasive nature as well as their low nutritive properties, resistance to weathering, great bulk and ash content. This study has been carried out to study the utility of rice husk ash and lime in the stabilization of silty sand. It has been found that rice husk ash and lime can potentially improve the various geotechnical properties such as California bearing ratio, cohesion and shear strength etc and can be utilized as a substitute for stabilization in the rice growing regions. The analysis of the particle arrangement in the soil by scanning electron microscope at magnification 1000X shows that the gel formation has been taken place between sand and silt particles at optimum binder content and it is subsequently develop in the form of a crystalline product, resulting in an enhance cohesion and greater strength.
