摘要
The performance of high temperature superconductor (HTS) wire is increasing continuously and suitable for various large demonstrations in the energy sector and power applications. American Superconductor Corporation in Westborough, MA produces Bi-2223 tape in a pilot production plant with a standard wire length of 400 m and a production exceeding 120 km in 1996. The wire properties like critical current density and a.c. losses have progressed to levels which enable the realization of prototypes confirming the benefits of the HTS technology. This paper reviews the development and presents test results of American Superconductor's HTS wire and some large HTS power application prototypes including electrical motors, generators, power transmission cables, transformers and superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) devices. Also applications of HTS in accelerator technology and as current leads in combination with LTS magnets are presented in outline.
