The medicines module is one of the largest modules of the new-look Practice Standards Scheme. This article, the second in a two-part series, discusses how practices should deal with controlled drugs and with the unauthorised use of medicines. It also considers the responsible use of antimicrobials and anthelmintics. The first part, which was published in the June issue of In Practice, considered the storage of medicines, prescribing, dispensing and supply, and record keeping.
