摘要
End-user computing has become a necessity at all levels in organizations. In recent years, researchers have consistently pointed out the lack of EUC support. In Order to effectively utilize EUC and to minimize EUC risks, supporting end users is essential. While many organizations acknowledge this fact, it is difficult to design effective support for end users. This is primarily due to the lack of knowledge of how different types of end users seek support for their computing needs. In addition, it is nor clear what support sources different end users use for their support needs. This study proposes a three dimensional framework to understand the relationship between end-user types, types of support, and support sources. Specifically, the correlations between the eight types of end users identified by the user cube, four types of support identified in the support instrument (General, Development, Data, Purchase) and three support sources (Information Center Local MIS staff Informal support) are studied and discussed. This study will be invaluable to practitioners. In addition, it provides new insights in the field of EUC support research.
