The complex [Ni(C5H5N)(2)(C7H6O2N)(2)].H2O was synthesized by the reaction of taurine salicylic Schiff base(TSSB), pyridine and nickel acetate in water-ethanol solution, and determined by X-ray diffraction method; but it was showed that the compound does not contain taurine. It belongs to monoclinic system, space group C2/c with a = 14.466(2), b = 12.193(2), c = 14.072(2) Angstrom, beta = 116.229(2)degrees, M-r = 475.18, V = 2226.6(5) Angstrom(3), Z = 4, D-c = 1.418 g/cm(3), mu = 0.905 mm(-1) and F(000) = 992. The complex is two-dimensional formed through hydrogen bonding. The Ni(II), coordinated by two oxygen atoms from two salicylic imine molecules and four nitrogen atoms from two pyridines and two salicylic imine molecules, forms an octahedral geometry. The abilities of various atoms coordinating to Ni(II) are also discussed
