摘要
We can't predict the future, but by understanding the forces that shaped the present-the differing priorities and methods of computer science, human factors, psychology, design, information systems, information science, and other disciplines that influenced human-computer interaction-we can more effectively direct our efforts. We can learn where to look and how to interpret what we find. This course covers how the disciplines that have contributed to human-computer interaction progressed from their formation to the present. Software went from passively reacting to human input to today's dynamic presence. HCI changed as it steadily realized goals outlined by pioneers. Although we are now in a new era, understanding how past events unfolded can prepare us for the surprises that lie ahead.
