An electromagnetic inverse scattering problem of reconstructing material parameters of a chiral slab from the time responses of transmitted and reflected electric fields is investigated. An error functional is defined as a norm of discrepancy between the measured responses and the computed ones due to estimated material parameters. Then the inverse scattering problem is reduced to an optimization problem where the functional is minimized. Applying the Levenberg-Marquardt-Morrison (LMM) method to the optimization problem, one can obtain an iterative reconstruction algorithm. It is seen from the numerical results for a homogeneous chiral slab and an inhomogeneous one that the reconstructions of the material parameters show good agreement with the true profiles.
