摘要
The radon concentrations in some caves of the karstic zones of Venezuela have been studied (Guacharo, Alfredo Jahn, Los Laureles caves, and caves in the Valle de Guramacal National Park). Measurements were done with bare CR-39 and LR 115 detectors. Results show a wide range of values some of which exceed by a factor of 400 the recommended intervention limit of 200 Bq/m(3) for dwellings. The additional dose to which speleologists might be exposed has been calculated to be between 6 and 100 mSv/y equivalent to a risk of cancer in the respiratory tract between 3 and 50 for a population of 10(4).
