Enhanced learning with personalized course pages

摘要
Courses with a high degree of technical content are often the most challenging for students. An additional level of complexity is introduced when logical reasoning is required for the solution of abstract problems. To provide added support for students enrolled in such courses, we have created a software application that dynamically generates course Web pages. Students are able to obtain lecture materials homework assignments, review sheets, and software demonstrations of key course concepts from pages corresponding to each week in the on-line syllabus. Password-protected grades and comments on assignments, along with statistics on overall class performance, provide a means for personalized correspondence with each student. All session-specific and grade-related pages are generated dynamically from a database using Active Server Page (ASP) scripts. Both students and instructors have benefited from the easy accessibility to course material and the increased communication capabilities afforded by this technology.
