Using benthic diatoms in the assessment of spring water quality in suburban areas

摘要：
The aim of this study was to determine the possibility of using diatom indices for the water quality assessment of springs. Diatom indices used were IPS, GDI, EPI-D and TDI, mostly used for the determination of the quality of flowing water. The results of the biological evaluation of the water have been related to the hydrochemical characteristic of the studied springs. Application of the selected diatom indices for determination of the quality of the spring water does not reflect changes in the quality of these springs.
