摘要
A near beta titanium alloy reinforced with different mass fractions of SiCp was prepared by vacuum induction melting technology. The addition of SiCp was 0 wt%, 0.1 wt%, 0.4 wt% and 1.0 wt%. Effect of SiCp addition on microstructure and mechanical properties of the near beta titanium alloy was investigated by XRD, SEM, Vicker's micro-hardness tester and Instron universal testing machine. Results show that the composite material with different SiCp addition is composed of alpha-Ti, beta-Ti and TiC phase. The addition of SiCp refines prior)3 grain size obviously, which decreases from 639 to 323 gm with the addition of SiCp increasing from 0 to 1.0 wt%. Moreover, the near beta titanium alloy with addition of SiCp exhibits higher Vicker hardness and compression strength but worse plasticity compared with unreinforced titanium alloys. The composites exert the strengthening effects of both particulate reinforcements of TiC and Si elements through solid solution hardening and fine grain hardening.
