摘要:
After unsuccessful colic treatment it is not infrequent that vets are faced with malpractice claims. Especially if vets sue a horse owner for payment of outstanding fee, horse owners tend to react by suing the vat via counter claim for compensation of damages from expensive veterinary care and from loss of the horse. In these cases horse owners usually argue that an existing duty of care was breached by the attending vet during colic treatment or referral, would it be either by doing something that a vet should not have done, or, and more common, would it be by failing to do something hat should have been done, thus acting negligently. The article illustrates typical and common blames of horse owners to horse practitioners treating colic horses and provides some directions for avoiding malpractice claims.
