摘要
The aim of this study is to determine the occupational training needs of teachers concerning the new methods used for instruction and measurement and assessment, and examine how these needs differ according to gender and length of service. The survey method was used in the research. The population in this research consists of primary school teachers in Samsun. 156 of the 1276 primary school teachers, who attended the teacher training programme in June 2007, participated in the research. The data of the research were analyzed on the computer in terms of percentage, frequency and chi-square values. The level of significance was calculated as p>0.5. The teachers indicated that they needed training on methods and techniques such as demonstration, role play, concept map, fishbone diagram, mind map, preparation of the learning environment, preparation of the learning environment according to types of intelligence, assessment of projects, portfolios and performance tasks, analytical assessment technique, general impression assessment, assessment of emotional properties and coordination skills. The chi-square results show that, considering length of service, there is a significant difference between groups in terms of training needs in problem solving, playing games and check list methods. They also show that, considering gender, there is a significant difference between groups in terms of training needs in total assessment technique.
