Elimination of Electric Arc Stabilization in Precision Welding with High-Current DC Glow Discharge

摘要
The article considers the possibility of increasing stability of DC high-current glow discharge in the diffusion bonding processes at discharge currents 1 - 30 A and the gas pressure 1.33 - 13.3 kPa by replacing the monolithic anode with a multi-section one with the mobile anode sections. It is shown that the application of proposed devices which provides an increasing in the length of the inter-electrode gap to the values of 0.03 - 0.06 m during 10(-2) - 10(-1) sec is an effective way of extinguishing electric arcs arising from disturbing of the high-current glow discharge in welding and brazing.
