摘要
If quantum mechanics is to be converted into something more in line with classical mechanics in order to eliminate indeterminism, then we should appreciate first that classical mechanics is in some respects almost generically indeterministic. On the other hand those who are afraid that a return to classical mechanics is equivalent to a return to classical determinism, should rest assured that the three and more body problem as well as deterministic chaos are a rock solid basis against any attempt to reintroduce naive determinism back in to physics, let alone any other scientific disciplines. The preceding statement forms the thread binding the present work together. We start by reviewing the meaning of indeterminism in classical and quantum mechanics. Subsequently we look at the recent contribution of G. 't Hooft to the theory of dissipative quantum mechanics from the view point of the author's work on the variational formulation of non-conservative systems as well as Ord's random walk model of quantum mechanics. Various related points connected to Thom's VAK conjecture and nested fractal vibrations are then considered.
