摘要
A parameter is presented that enables a classification of agricultural atomisers concerning their drift potential - the Drift Potential Index (DIX). This parameter is based on a theory of drift rise and spreading. Following this theory, the drift risk depends upon the driftable amount as well as on its vertical distribution near the nozzle. These DIX components can be determined using relative simple methods in a wind tunnel. It is shown that the theory as well as the DIX values from wind tunnel measurements correlate well with drift measurement results from field trials.
