摘要
NURBS interpolation algorithm is always adopted for free-form curves in high speed and high precision machining tools. The running speed for NURBS interpolator does not decrease to zero before reaching the final point of curve which may induce a large contour error at sharp corners. Therefore it is important for NURBS interpolator to control contour error. However contour error estimation for free-form curve costs more time and workload. In this paper a fast and iterative contour error estimation algorithm integrated with the interpolation is presented which increases the real-time of machining system. Experimental results are provided to verify the performance of contour error estimation algorithm.
