Future prospects of the Estonian industry

In this article a forecast of the Estonian GDP-growth to the year 2000 is presented. According to the forecast, which was made in the summer 1997 by the Estonian Institute of Economics in Tallinn, the economic growth during the years 1998-2000 is estimated to be 6-8 % per year. The expected changes in the GDP structure by economic activity are briefly discussed. Particular stress in the article has, however, been laid on the manufacturing industry, which is estimated to grow faster than the total GDP. A growth forecast by industrial branches is also presented.
