摘要：
Most hair damage results from grooming habits and chemical exposure for cosmetic purposes. An evaluation of hair structure and biology points to the need for better protective mechanisms from cuticular and UV damage to maintain the cosmetic value of hair. This article discusses the cooperative roles of the dermatologist in elucidating the mechanism by which products can enhance hair shaft function, and the cosmetic chemist in identifying substances and formulations that accomplish the desired results.
