摘要
The spectacular medical progresses, including screening, telemedicine and especially e-Health advancements, allowed closer examination of both the healthy individual's disease risks and chronic patient's disease evolution. The right-to-healthcare notion is gradually substituted by the obliged-to-be-healthy idea enforced through medical checks as they are promoted and accepted by our society. The promotion at a societal level of a highly-preventive attitude to reduce the cost of disease has, at individual level, the effect of developing anxiety about the eventuality of the disease, with the overuse of health services, starting with Internet individual medical research and searching for the best medical assessments. Since this behavior eventually interferes with most aspects of life (nutrition, physical activity, clothing, pregnancy, workplace activity etc.), we identified and summed up a number of arguments that may support the idea of healthcare dependency. This paper represents a review of medical, psychological, sociological and theological scientific literature in order to define and argue the concept of healthcare dependency.
