摘要
Fe and Al (40 at% Al) powder were mechanically alloyed in a planetary ball mill, and this process resulted in small powder particles composed of 4-10 nm nanocrystalline grains. Some of these crystallites were ordered FeAl with B2 structure but it was not possible to exclude that there also existed an extended bcc solid solution, Fe(Al). A subsequent heat treatment resulted in ordered FeAl grains, and compaction of the powder by HIP or hot extrusion gave a fine grained FeAl material with a uniform dispersion of intragranular nanosized precipitates of Al2O3.
