摘要：
Experiments for making small gears with Q-switched YAG laser beam are carried out. For obtaining sharp edges of the kerf, the target plate is held between other two plates. Sets of racks and pinion gears of tool steel and diamond are fabricated. The gears can be rotated with the racks. For removing the remaining solidified molten layer and improving the surface smoothness of the steel gear, lapping of the gear with abrasives using the rack as a tool is tried; as a result, the surface smoothness is improved.
