Preliminary Electromagnetic Force Calculation of a Shaped Charge Jet in the Passive Electromagnetic Armor

摘要
The passive electromagnetic armor is a new military technology. We all know that a shaped charge jet can be distorted by high electric currents injected into the jet by spaced electrode plates connecting to a high voltage capacitor. But, the theory of the process is not clear. So, it is important to research and model the shaped charge jet. This paper models the equivalent circuit of a shaped charge jet. The current pulse of a shaped charge jet is calculated and compared with the measured current pulse. Because of the Conductor Skin Effect the current density is attenuated exponentially from the surface of a shaped charge jet on radial direction. It calculates the current density by the circuit current (2) equaling to the equation (5) multiplying a coefficient and the electromagnetic force density of a shaped charge jet is obtained when a powerful electric current passed through it.
