Theoretical framework: in clinical teaching, students face particularly aggressive realities that have a high emotional impact. During care provision, working with safety is a natural need for the nursing student. Objectives: To identify the emotions, the type of care with the greatest emotional impact on the student and to understand how students manage the emotional impact of care provision. Methodology: Exploratory and retrospective study. Learning and thematic narratives were used for data collection, analyzed using Bardin's content analysis and the EAS questionnaire applied to 411 students. Results: Communication and dealing with death were the most valued aspects by the students. Conclusions: Sadness arose only during the end of life and post-mortem care procedures. Happiness was related to the student's opportunity to enjoy this experience, fear of failure or the suffering that might cause to the patient, and the surprise at the unpredictability of the procedure
