摘要
In the present scenario a large number of major commercial sectors like food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries rely on the variety of compounds derived from the bioactive materials of the plant species. These bioactive compounds are extracted by numerous methods which are differentiated as two types, conventional methods (soxhlet, reflux, hydrodistillation) and non-conventional methods (Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction (UAE) and Microwave-Assisted Extraction (MAE)) and various solvents are used for the extraction of active compounds from Capparis zeylanica. From the results, it can be proved that the quantity of extraction mainly depends on the method of extraction, type of solvents used and the time interval of the extraction. By analyzing the above methods, microwave-assisted extraction was more effective when compared to the other methods as the extraction time period was short and only a small amount of solvent was used for this process and by this method more amount of compound could be extracted.
