摘要
Environmental impact assessment is considered to be one of main instruments of international environmental policy of sustainable development. Possible negative and positive impacts of water constructions on the environment are assessed in Slovak Republic according to Act No. 314/2014 Coll. Act No. 24/2006 Coll. on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), in Czech Republic according to Act No. 100/2001 Coll. Act on Environmental Impact Assessment as amended by Act No. 93/2004 Coll. and in European Union according to Council Directive 2014/52/EC amending Directive 2011/92/EC on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment. Proposed activities which are subject to the environmental impact assessment are divided into two groups: compulsory assessment and screening procedure and the paper is aimed on both of them. The aim of the paper is to present the issues related to the EIA process underway for water structures in the Slovakia and Czech Republic and compare these two countries with EU legislation.
