Therapeutic management of pyoderma gangrenosum

Due to its complex and variable pathophysiology, the differential diagnosis and treatment of PG require intensive interdisciplinary cooperation, especially by rheumatologists, with specialists in dermatology and internal medicine. Only a few controlled studies have been performed; nevertheless, as a result of various novel developments, an array of therapeutic approaches exists that can be adapted to the specific problems of the individual patient. These recent approaches are also the basis for treatment recommendations to be validated in the future for managing this painful and sometimes debilitating disease.
