Determination of harmful substances in water and air by gas chromatography after preconcentration

Gas-chromatographic procedures were developed for determining normal (C-5-C-10), aromatic, and halogenated hydrocarbons; acetaldehyde; methanol; phenols; and sulfur- and nitrogen-containing substances in air and water at a level 2-100 times lower than the maximum permissible concentrations. Selective detectors, capillary and packed columns, and various techniques and devices for separation and preconcentration of trace impurities were used. The relative standard deviation was no higher than 22%.
