Methodological problems of sociology of occupations

Methodological problems of sociology of occupations (by Tatiana Alexandrova) throws light on selected ontological and gnosiological issues in sociological studies of occupations. Evolving notions of "occupations" is followed up through classical works by Spencer, Marx, Durkheim, and M. Weber, as well as in Russian acid recent Western writing. Functional treatment of occupations as a social and technologic mechanism to develop substantial side of working activities is argued for. Phenomenon of occupation is shown as s unity of action singularity and economic aspect of survival.
