摘要
The synthesis of new Shiff base ligands denoted L-1, HL2 and HL3 starting from the appropriate amino-neocryptolepine and salicaldehyde were described. The chelation abilities of L-1, HL3 and HL3 ligands towards Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Pd(II) salts have been studied. A series of square planar complexes containing Cu(II) salts, PdCl2 and octahedral chelates containing NiCl2, CoCl2 salts (2 and 7) have been isolated. Also, the pentacoordinated Co(II) complex [Co(L-1)(2)Cl]center dot Cl.0.5H(2)O center dot 1.25EtOH (1) has been prepared. The mode of bonding and geometrical structure of complexes has been confirmed by elemental analyses and different spectroscopic methods together with thermal, magnetic moment studies, molecular modeling and X-ray diffraction. Furthermore, the synthesized ligands, in comparison to some of their metal complexes were screened for their anticancer activity against colorectal adenocarcinoma (HT-29) cells. The results showed that Co(II) complexes (1 and 7) exhibited higher anticancer activity when compared to the corresponding ligands. Published by Elsevier B.V.
