From user participation to user seduction in the design of innovative user-centered systems

Many approaches have been proposed and used to design computer-based systems. Nevertheless, generally the outcomes are not satisfactory from various perspectives (e.g., user satisfaction, technology innovation, etc.). Within this paper -after analyzing strengths and weaknesses of some of these approaches- we propose a new 'seductive' way for designing innovative user-centered systems. This approach is based on the integration of the CSCW and industrial design cultures. One of the first experiences of its use is also discussed.
