摘要
The researcher assessed Astin's (1984) theory of student involvement among NCAA Division III basketball players and the way in which basketball contributed to involvement Nine male and 5 female basketball players took part in semistructured interviews. A qualitative analysis revealed that these student athletes were involved due to their academic absorption, extracurricular participation and faculty interaction. Admissions standards, academic and athletic structures, and basketball-through the development of a social learning community-led to involvement.
