Barriers in the Technological Innovation Implementation and Digital Entrepreneurship Development

Nowadays, digitalization plays an increasingly important role for both the economy and society. The development of organizations without technological innovations is currently significantly limited. Despite of many advantages of digitalization, this process is limited by many internal and external barriers. The advantages and disadvantages of digitalization are analyzed mostly in large enterprises, and analogous studies in SMEs are insufficient. This creates difficulties in determining the causes and determinants for the development of digital entrepreneurship. In this paper, we try to identify and assess the impact of barriers in the implementation of technological innovations in the digitization of processes and activities in SMEs, which affects the development of digital entrepreneurship. To achieve the set goal, a survey research among Polish small and medium enterprises was carried out in 2019. As a result of the study, the intensification of barriers in the implementation of technological innovations in SMEs was assessed and their impact on the development of digital entrepreneurship was examined.
