An experimental investigation on metakaoline GGBS based concrete with recycled coarse aggregate

摘要
This paper investigated the effect of replacing of cement by Metakaolin and Ground granulated blast furnace slag, coarse aggregate was replaced by demolished waste materials crushed up to less than 20 mm size. Demolished waste material contains tiles, bricks, gravels and old paste with appropriate percentages. In this study, percentage of MK was fixed at 10 with varying percentages of GGBS as 10, 15, 20 and 25%. Fresh and hardened concrete properties examined. Flow tests were performed with slump value, L-box test, V funnel test and T-50 test. Natural Coarse Aggregates (NCA) was replaced by Recycled Coarse Aggregate (RCA) as 0, 25% and 50% by weight of NCA. Compressive strength test was performed to evaluate the effect of MK and GGBS with recycled aggregate. All specimens were cured at 7, 28 and 56 days. Significantly increment in strength was observed at 25% of replacement with RCA. Replacement of NCA with RCA lead an economical construction with satisfying requirements. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd.
