The deceleration and storage of a light pulse in caesium vapour

摘要
We report for the first time, according to our knowledge, an experiment in which a light pulse is decelerated to 2000 m s(-1) and stored in a caesium vapour cell for a period of time without using a buffer gas. The storage time of the light can be up to 25 mus by adjusting the laser beam size to an appropriate value.
