摘要：
This paper presents the results of an ongoing research programme into the reality of Project Management Offices (PMOs) specifically and of Organisational Project Management generally. The results of a survey of 500 PMOs show that PMOs vary greatly in form, function and legitimacy. The analysis of in-depth case studies shows that PMOs evolve in a dynamic organisational context. The analysis of the PMOs in context should lead to better understanding.
