The quenching properties of the reaction zone located at the edge of a burning diffusion flame (edge-flame) are studied. For large activation energy, a relation is established between a geometrical aspect ratio of the edge-flame and a quenching Damkohler number. This number characterizes the transition from burning to quenching observed in diffusion edge-flames and is expressed as a function of the quenching Damkohler of a one-dimensional flamelet.
