摘要
In the current research work a two-dimensional, unsteady, free-surface flow calculation method is employed using a finite-volume, explicit numerical technique. The HEC-RAS simulation model is also used, which is the "next generation" river analysis package, and contains a one-dimensional steady and unsteady state water surface profile program, in windows environment, without taking into consideration sediment transport. Applications regarding subcritical flow in a converging-diverging open channel and flow near an obstruction, such a bridge pier, are reported. Comparison of the numerical results of water surface profiles from the 2-D model with those from the 1-D model led to an improved methodology for solving the aforementioned free surface problems.
