[5]Trovacenol, (η7-C7H7)V(η5-C5H4OH):: Synthesis and structural characterization

摘要
[5]Trovacenol (4(.)) prepared according to the sequence (C7H7)V(C5H5) (1(.))-->(C7H7)V(C5H4OSiMe3) (5(.)) --> (C7H7)V(C5H4OH) (4(.)) in the crystal adopts a sheet structure. The sheets consist of parallel chains of hydrogen bonds, graph set C(4), to which the [5]trovacenyl groups are connected, forming double layers. Packing of the trovacene units on both sides of the (...O-H...O-H...)(n) spines displays a herringbone pattern. In this way O-H...O as well as (C7H7)H...pi(C5H5) hydrogen bonding is optimized. This study represents the first full structural characterization of a metallocenol.
