摘要
This paper discusses the relevance of modern distributed, componentized software architectures for industrial control to production and automation managers. The benefits that these architectures bring as they migrate from commercial to industrial applications are highlighted. Issues of how these architectures are implemented and guidelines for deciding when they should and should not be considered for solving real-world productivity challenges are also addressed. An example is given to demonstrate key characteristics.
