Synthesis and characterisation of cis-dioxomolybdenum(VI) Schiff base complexes derived from 2-benzoylpyridine

摘要
cis-Dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes of bi-, tri-and tetra-dentate Schiff bases derived from 2-benzoylpyridine and monoamines, such as, p-anisidine, m-phenetidine or p-toluidine, and diamines, viz., o-, mor p-phenylenediamine are reported. Reactions of the bi-, tri-and tetradentate Schiff bases with [MoO2(acac)(2)] in ethanol medium in 1:1, 1:2 and 1:2 molar ratios, respectively, yield diamagnetic molybdenum(VI) monometallic complexes of the composition, cis-[MoO2(L)(OEt)(2)] (where L=bidentate schiff base derived from monoamine) and the ligand bridged bimetallic complexes, cis-[Mo2O4(L-1)(oEt)(4)] (where L'=tridentate schiff base derived from o- or m-phenylenediamine or tetradentate schiff base with p-phenylenediamine). These complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductances, IR, UV/Vis, H-1 NMR and CV studies.
