摘要
Salmonella is a major cause of worldwide food borne illness in human beings. The poultry products are frequently contaminated with Salmonella spp. With this view Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) assay was done to isolate and identify Salmonella species rapidly in poultry products and environment. The sensitivity of PCR was compared with standard culture methods. Since S. enteritidis and S. typhimurium are the prevalent zoonotic serovars in poultry meat causing Salmonella infections in humans, a Multiplex Polymerase Chain Reaction (m-PCR) assay was done to detect these two serovars.
